Revalidation is the process by which all Doctors and Nurses are verified to retain their licence to practise in the UK. This process set out by which the General Medical Council (GMC) and Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) ensures all medical staff are up to date in their chosen field and fit to practise.

Holding a license to practice is the key indicator that the criteria and standards required have been met.
